Is it a sin to purchase makeup with sexually explicit names?

I work part-time at Ulta. My speciality is cosmetics. I have noticed a trend, whereby sexually explicit names are used by the cosmetics companies to describe their products. NARS has an entire line called, “Orgasm”. TOO FACED has mascara called, “Lashgasm”. Why choose such provocative names? Is it to titillate? Do they realize how embarrassing it is to ask for these products? Is it sinful to buy these products? What do you think?

It would be a pretty crazy line of rational to arrive at the conclusion that purchasing such things was bad. It isn’t like orgasms are bad things. Orgasm isn’t really even a dirty word, just a little private (most make-up also happens to be a little private for most). If it were a shirt or something similar I could see the problem as it might cause peoples thoughts to drift, but it isn’t like someone is going to be digging through your make-up.

I think it’s definitely chosen to get attention, probably not to titillate. Sex sells-it’s a basic principle of advertising. I think it’s probably not sinful to buy these products but I wouldn’t buy them myself just in principle because I disagree with this approach. (I used to work in advertising.)

I know the word Orgasm is not “dirty”. The name is so provocative. Orgasm is private, no? I feel like my modesty is being invaded! I showed a woman “Lashgasm” (its great mascara) mascara for her thirteen year old daughter and felt the need to apologize in advance!

Not sure if its a sin…but how disgusting. So tired of seeing sex everywhere. I don’t know if I notice it more now that I have 3 small girls…or if its getting worse:shrug: (imo, I think its the latter).

I don’t know about sinful, but I find it disgusting, and avoid such products. Even those with idiotic names like Urban Decay.

They can celebrate fornication and death all they want but it won’t be on my dime.

That’s the part that would make me the most uncomfortable, having to “pitch” a product with a name like that. I don’t know if its a sin, but I don’t think I could work with a bunch of product names that would make me that uncomfortable on a consistent basis. I hate that even something such as mascara is now sexualized like that.
