I’ve read Choo Thomas at this adress (entry on July 20, 2010) :

choothomas.org/saved.html

And she says it is a sin to worry, although I don’t worry about day to day life (money (not that I’m rich or even remotly close to that), bills, exams, etc.) but I worry very much about those I love and pray for them and sometimes feel an urgency to help them.

Is it wrong to feel this way do you think?

Why are you reading this website and becoming concerned that you are sinning?

Does “Choo Thomas” teach with authority? No

Is “Choo Thomas” bishop of the Catholic Church? No

Does “Choo Thomas” teach in conformity with the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church? No

In my opinion worrying shows a lack of faith. Maybe I’m wrong but that’s my opinion. I wouldn’t call it a sin though.

Jesus is very clear to pray for others.

It is most likely a clever scheme from the devil to stop us to pray for others. Mother Mary is asking all of us to pray for others. If you worry pray.

I am not a priest but i would be in complete shock if you priest was to say you are committing a sing to worry and pray for others.

New Age tendency is to condemn fear and worry.

Don’t worry and pray!

Trust God.

Blessings!

p.s If you worry that God won’t forgive you or won’t help you then yes in that sense you aren’t trusting but worry for others, there isn’t anything wrong to pray for them.

If it is, then every mother in the world is damned for sure.

I would consult the Bible and church teachings rather than Choo Thomas.

Jesus says in Matthew’s Gospel not to worry about our lives, and 1 Peter 5:7 says “Cast all your cares on him because he cares for you.”

I worry about family members, friends, my cat, my life etc but when I worry, I pray. I ask others to pray.

I think it is good that you have an urgency to help others.

I often ask St. Monica to intercede for me (especially for one of my sons)! 🙂

Worry is natural, as in a life or death situation. We worry about family and friends who have addictions, illnesses, financial and moral issues. Jesus commands us to put away all worry and anxious thoughts and instead bring them to him in prayer. His Father in Heaven already knows our hearts and he will give us peace. We must place all our trust in God. Seek God’s will in everything. Failure to seek God’s help would be a venial sin.
Just speaking from my limited knowledge.

Concern is not the same thing as despair.
I agree. It depends on the degree of worry and how you handle it. For example, if a 25 year old adult wants to take a job far away from his parents and the mom is concerned and prays for the move, that is loving. If the mom is so petrified she somehow manages to prevent the move, then yes, that could be a venial sin.

I was only talking negatively about worry because of the litany of humility. We pray in that that our fears and desires are eliminated.

No. It is not a sin to FEEL anything.

Make sure to pray about the people that you are worried about. Just being worried won’t help them.

Well, it’s not completely literal. Certain fears and desires are good, such as fear of displeasing God and desiring for your loved ones to get to Heaven.
