is it a sin?

Im a college student and was wondering if its a sin to shower nude at the gym after working out with the other guys? Is it a sin against modesty/chastity?

At my college, I shower after exercising at the gym. Ive always had a very strong attraction to girls but I find myself curious to see the other guys my ages “thing.” Is something wrong with me? Is it a sin? Why do I have this feeling?

I’m in college and an athlete. I’ve always thought of myself as heterosexual but I experience sexual attraction to the other guys in the locker room. I can’t avoid the locker room so what should I do? This is really bothering me. I don’t want to have these feelings!

Any advice?
 
No, it isn’t sinful.

If you personally find that you are tempted to impure thoughts or acts by doing this, then it would be wise to avoid this activity. But being nude in the locker room is not indecent in the slightest.

I do not know whether or not it would be a sin but it could be an occasion of sin for you or for others. Not to shower with the guys may be a prudent thing to do. For instance, out of respect for those who are suffering with homosexual tendencies in your bunch, it would be wise not to shower in front of the guys.

I disagree, it is the homosexuals who should be the ones who show respect for you and if it is a problem for them they should aovid showering with the guys. However, you can always wait until you get home to shower since it avoids any problems.
 
Not a sin. I personally don’t shower in public, but that’s because I’m 43 and flabby. No one wants to see that. 🙂

Thank you and you would be surprised how many people older than you think otherwise and it is discusting. When our hot water heater was broken for a few days we had to go to the health center to shower and while there are showers that have doors and I used those, the old people think its cool to walk around naked all over the place and use the showers that don’t have doors.
 
In gym class in high school, all of the girls had to shower in the girls’ locker room, and all of the boys had to shower in the boys’ locker room. There are just a bunch of shower heads in a row, no stalls or doors. I don’t know if high school locker rooms have changed, but there was no such thing as a private shower when I was in high school.

accdg. to Church teachings, is homosexual attraction wrong? coz i read in a priest’s blog that beinga homosexual isn’t a sin.

The Church teaches that same sex attraction is a disorder. Acting on those feelings is intrinsically and gravely wrong.
 
I have another question for you. Why is it that so many religious peope feel that homosexuality is a choice? A lot homosexuals struggle and struggle with it, they fight it till they’re blue in the face and come to hate themselves because nothing they do changes the fact that they’re gay. How can it possibly be a choice when its so obviously unwanted? Why on earth would someone choose that for themselves?

Whether or not it is a “choice” is *not relevant *to it’s wrongness. Other disorders are not “chosen” either, and yet they exist. And the Catholic Church does not work from the premise that it is a “choice”. The Church acknowledges that we do not know the root cause in many cases.

What we, as Christians, must do is conform to the natural and divine law and overcome our disordered compulsions-- whatever they may be.

The Church does not teach that an orientation to the same sex is ‘wrong’. The Church teaches it is disorded. Whether that disorder is by defective nature, nurture, or choice is irrelevant.

Acting on the disordered desire is gravely wrong. Everyone is born with intellect and will to know and choose the good. If one chooses the disordered act, then one has chosen to sin.
 
So its not that the homosexuality is the choice…its the acting on it that is. I think I get it however much I disagree with the idea that its wrong. I

A lot of people struggle with the temptation to drink too much or to take mind altering drugs or with promiscuity or with temptations to overeat. They are all wrong and probably disorders called “original sin”. Those who resist those and many other sins are called “righteous”. Those who don’t are called sinners.

Those with temptations to use ones body in ways for which they were not created have disorders. Those who resist are righteous. Those who don’t are correctly called sinners.

The only reason we get confused or seem to get confused on the subject is that there is a lobby of people who like to commit the particular sin. Repeated sinning in an area only increases the strength that temptation has over a person. One must choose each day and each moment whether they will serve God or serve sinful passions. Those who serve God are called saints. Those who choose to rebell are called sinners.

There is no such thing as a homosexual any more than there is such a thing as a drunkard in the sense that such titles define the person. It is cruel and incorrect to call a person a homosexual or a drunkard. A person may be tempted by various kinds of lusts but they are still a person. It is cruel how some people have convinced others that they are to be defined by their temptations and not by their created being. The various gay lobbies that promote this are committing terrible wrongs and evils against those who struggle with these temptations. God has made us in His image to be victors over sin not victims of sin. These groups that so denegrate people have much to answer for when the day of judgment comes. Furthermore,l the politicians and businesses that pander to such false identifiers and evil gossip will pay a heavy price someday.

That is why we join in the heart felt cry with all the saints, “Maranatha!”

Homosexuality, like every other sinful tendency - greed, lust, hatred and so on - is part of the fabric of our polluted and sinful nature. Homosexual acts are the manifestation of a sinful heart.

The Bible warns us plainly: ‘Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God’ (1 Corinthians 6:9-10). Among the other forms that human depravity manifests itself, homosexuals are included in the list of people who would not inherit the kingdom of God.

Clearly then, the Bible teaches that homosexuality is sin. God would certainly not judge us and exclude us from heaven because of a disease. Like every other sin, it could be forgiven through repentance (admitting that it is sin and forsaking it) and faith in Christ Jesus.

Some excuse homosexuality claiming that it is either a psychiatric or genetic disorder. It is neither. The American Psychiatric Association does not recognize homosexuality as a psychiatric disorder any longer. Moreover, there is no sound scientific evidence that homosexuality is a genetic disease. Again, the APA admits that: “to date there are no replicated scientific studies supporting any specific biological etiology for homosexuality.”

Dear fin,

May God be with you!

We all have crosses to bear. Having a same sex attraction, having an addiction to pornography, drugs, alcohol etc. are all crosses.

Giving in to those things is the sin.

Confession cleans you up and gives you the Grace to carry on with your cross WITH the love and grace of Christ.
