Is it a sin?

Is it a sin to stay home from Mass on Sunday if one absolutely cannot stand the lack of reverence, the noise and chatter, the abuses occuring with the peace sign (talk talk right after the Consecration), the lack of time for praying to God after receiving Him in Holy Communion? Or, is it meritorious to go, and, offer it up? After all, Jesus is truly there. Imagine how He must feel?

I really don’t know. I don’t have the choice of going to some better place because my husband is chronically handicapped and we really can’t travel far. And that brings up another issue. We have to sit in the front row with the handicapped. I’m not complaining about that, but, we both receive on the tongue…me kneeling on the floor because there is no kneeler in the front. I feel like a jerk but I know that is good for me I also like to wear a hat…St. Paul said to, for heavens sake

Hi,

The obligation to attend Sunday Mass is not contingent on how well we like or dislike the liturgy. After all the Mass is the passion brought concretely into our lives. If you could see Him hanging on the cross before you, you would not be asking this question. Well, He is!
