My confusion arises from the Invitation to Prayer prior to the Eucharistic Prayers and Consecration.
*Invitation to Prayer:
Priest: Pray, my brothers and sisters, that our sacrifice may be acceptable to God, the almighty Father.
All: May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands, for the praise and glory of his name,
for our good, and the good of all his Church.*
Our new pastor has made it his mission to ensure that mass never exceeds one hour duration. He tends to rush through things. As far as I can tell, he never has used this prayer.
It was my understanding that the order of the mass is not something that can be altered at an individual priest’s whim, yet this seems to be the case here.
Is this acceptable?
YBIC,
Tom
