I pray all the time when I walk. I listen to the rosary on cd when I walk to work. Puts things in proper perspective for me.

You’re welcome.Sarabande,
You responded to my concerns with great precision. Thank you so much.
The Handel prayer is a nice, brief prayer. I will pray it sometime soon.
I am also eager to pray the Act of Love silently in public:
O Lord God, I love you above all things and I love my neighbor for your sake because you are the highest, infinite and perfect good, worthy of all my love. In this love I intend to live and die. Amen.
Perhaps silent prayer is in order here!I pray the rosary on my daily hike. I use a decade ring but still get some strange looks form people I pass-they think I am talking to myslef!
I cant say the Rosary without moving my lips!Perhaps silent prayer is in order here!
LOL, me too!I cant say the Rosary without moving my lips!
Yes, I agree with all posters it is indeed a good thing to pray, even in public quietly to yourself. But do not pray to bring attention to yourself.you can pray quietly, you can pray out loud, you can carry a big rosary, you can dress in sackcloth and ashes.
i feel self conscious abit if i am praying when i’m out walking or someplace…because i wonder whether my lips are moving…whether people think i’m talking to myself…and then i find i can’t focus that good on the actual prayers…does anyone know how to pray without moving their lips…i and probably a few people on the forum would be grateful if they told us how to do itI pray the rosary on my daily hike. I use a decade ring but still get some strange looks form people I pass-they think I am talking to myslef!
if by some lucky chance at times your prayer is “pure” it is because of the action of the Holy Spirit, not on account of anything you did or did not do, other than simply devoting the given time to conversation with God.I appreciate all your invigorating replies.
My concern was that with various audio-visual distractions while walking, my prayer would not be “pure.” .
That is beautiful!Later in life I wasn’t embarrassed to stop on the street in front of perfect strangers and gaze at the miracle of the snowflakes while I put prayer intentions on the flakes.
Every time I walk in the park there are people walking by themselves talking on their cellphones. If you feel strange walking and praying out loud when you are alone, how about putting a cellphone up to your ear as you pray?I cant say the Rosary without moving my lips!
