Good answer. We can criticize our mother, because she is our mother whom we love, and like you said, with her own good in mind. But when criticism comes from someone who is not our mother or who does not love our mother, then the criticism can be uncharitable as well as unjust and not having all of the facts. I am not exactly sure of what is meant by the question, " Is it a sin to justly criticize the *institution *of the Catholic Church?" What does that mean?
