Is it against the rubrics to give a financial presentation at Mass?

Hello,

Recently, my husband and I attended a Sunday Mass wherein, after the homily, which was given by the priest, a member of the parish got up and gave a Powerpoint presentation about parish finances, which lasted about 10 minutes. We were appalled and feel this greatly detracted from our worship. I also thought it was against the rubrics.

I wrote to the pastor and he said it is not against the rubrics since a priest did give the homily. I researched all over the internet: here, EWTN, and in Jimmy Akin’s book. I see rubrics that state that a layperson cannot give instructions (I assume on a spiritual level) during the homily, but I can’t find anything about talking about something non-spiritual.

Was this a violation of rubrics? If not, should the language in that section be tightened up so as not to allow this sort of thing? Is it allowed toward the end of Mass or only after Mass?

Thank you for the service you provide.
