Is it alright for a Catholic (or any Christian really) to read the Koran?

I have not read the Koran. However, I would wager that there is nothing in it that would make me abandon ANY of my Christian faith. I don’t think the reading of thatb book is harmful in and of itself, especially when read in the pursuit of understanding another culture. I know enough about Islam to know there is nothing in the Koran for me, and as far as I am concerned, that is enough.

I think it’s alright if you’re interested. It might help you to understand your Muslim neighbors better perhaps.
I for one am not in the least interested in what their prophet had to say. I know a little bit though from my Muslim neighbors, and from this site.

I’m going to a Jewish school though. Helps me tremendously to understand the “old testament” which I would have never ever been able to learn on my own.
