Is it appropriate for a woman in a long-distance relationship to travel to visit her boyfriend’s family?

especially now that women go traveling around on their own all the time in Western society without a chaperone.
wait a minute, not even written permission from their father or brother?

[ducks!]

I’d be up the creek as I have no male relative short of a 10-years-younger brother-in-law who is hardly in a position to exert any kind of authoritative influence over me 😃

Then again I have now reached the age where I would Be the chaperone, not Need the chaperone.

If both families are insisting that this would be wrong, then they need to do more than say “oh well, then.” The woman’s family needs to go with her and they can stay in a hotel and that way both sets of parents can meet each other and become familiar. It’s a two-year relationship, for goodness sakes. It’s probably time for the boys parents to be able to meet her??

Dear Catholic Sharia.
Please let Auntie Bear travel wherever she wants.
She brings nice things back for me.
