Is it appropriate to ask a deceased who is blessed to pray for your intention?

I know that it is very common to ask saints to intercede for us, but what about those who are blessed?

I just learned of an inspirational blessed, Blessed Imelda Lambertini. She is the patron saint of first communicants and is truly an inspiration in her love of the eucharist! You should definitely read about her if you’re unfamiliar.

Yes. We have votive masses for the Blessed. For example, in our community, we are bound by law to celebrate the mass of Bl. John Paul II and Bl. Teresa of Calcutta. What do we say in the closing prayer? “Through the intercession of [insert name].”

Well the process of Canonization needs to start somewhere does it not?

If people did not ask the blessed for their intercession and their eventual miracles recorded then they could never be advanced to the next stage, right?

Of course… not only it’s appropriate, it’s encouraged ! 😉

Of course. The very fact that they are beatified means that they intercede for us; most beatifications require at least one unequivocal miracle already brought about through their intercession. 👍
