Is it appropriate to have holy water stored in some sort of bottle or font in one’s own home for blessing oneself with?
 
Sure. Many parishes have holy water available for parishioners to take home with them for just that purpose. You can also usually find fonts suitable for home use for sale by Catholic religious goods suppliers.
