Is it appropriate to wear Rosary beads around one's neck ?

There seems to be a trend with young people wearing Rosary beads or “prayer” beads around the neck. Many of these people are non-Catholic. I work in a Catholic gift shop and I am not how to direct/instruct customers who have the expressed intention of wearing them around their necks. I feel guilty about selling a sacramental item that can be used inappropriately and at the same time I want to be welcoming and open to people that God may be calling back into the Catholic church. How should I handle this situation?
