You should only date women that you are willing to marry.

Same for women–they should only date men that they are willing to marry.

Think about it.

That doesn’t mean that you will marry the person you are dating. But you must be willing to marry them, otherwise, why date them? Go out with groups of friends, or go out with the guys (or the girls) but don’t date someone that you aren’t willing to marry.

Is it bad to date a non Catholic (protestant)? The reason I am asking is because where I live it is SOOOOOOOO hard to find Catholic girls (I live in the south) my age. I am just asking in general I dont have anyone in mind right now lol.
It’s not ā€œbadā€, but like many of the people who have previously responded, my experiences when i did so, never ended well.

I think it has a lot to do with your faith life and their stance on religion. If you are very committed to your Catholic faith and they are indifferent/agnostic or even fundamentalist Christian, there will be numerous deterrents that you will have to cross throughout your relationship. That’s not to say that your relationship will not survive or be wonderful, but it’s just something you will have to inevitably deal with and you should bear that in mind.

Personally, I find such a situation to be stifling and hindering to my relationship with God and within the Catholic Church. That’s why I’ve committed myself to not only dating ā€œCatholic menā€, but men who are SERIOUS about their Catholic faith and serious on their own accord.

It’s not easy by ANY means, but I’m just holding out on the hope/belief that it will all work out in the end. =)

I am of the belief that I since I forgot to include in my prayer, ā€œā€¦and make him Catholic, please Godā€, that you do indeed get exactly what you ask for. šŸ˜‰
Aha, that’s why I am still not taken! No girl asked yet for a guy who procrastinates doing the household chores and is usually late five minutes! 😃

Wow, where did you folks meet your Catholic spouses? When I was single, I couldn’t have gotten a Catholic guy to notice me even if I was on fire! :bigyikes:
Umm, well, my husband WAS Protestant, as was I, when we married. šŸ˜‰ We both ā€œswam the Tiberā€ in September of 2005, taking our three children with us. Thanks to the Church’s teachings, we have now been blessed with two more children! 😃 And we remind our children often to only date Catholics. (Except for our oldest, the 10-year-old. She is already talking about becoming a nun; she’s been doing this since we converted back in 2005.)
