Is it bad to sin during a Novena

Right now, I am in the middle praying a Noveana (it has to do with me asking God to let me be with a girl with whom I am infatuated with and reall truly feel is my soulmate even though she doesn’t know it yet), and today, well, lets just say I did a certain thing that single guys tend to do, while looking at PG-13 rated material (a habit I’m trying to cut back on). Is this going to hurt my Novena?

Confess and try not to do it again. We all fall sometimes. I don’t think that doing it during a Novena will make it any worse of a sin or make God any less likely to hear your prayers.

Novenas are not magic. They are prayers. We do not say them to get things - the proper prayer in this case is “God, thy will be done in helping me find my vocation. Should that vocation be marriage, lead me to a holy woman with whom I can live out that vocation.”

Go to confession, get the non-Christian idea of soulmates out of your head.

There are two times when you really want to avoid sin. These two times are during a Novena, and not during a Novena .

Go to confession as soon as possible. Another good piece of advise is to give yourself a certain penance each time you fall into that particular sin. For example, if you commit this sin, you are not allowed to eat the following day. If you can do that, I think you will overcome the sin in no time.

Its never OK to sin but we ALL sin every day. Its part of our “fallen nature”. It is, however, our reason to lift ourselves up and strive to avoid all near occassions of sin.

It should give us the reason to go to Confession on a regular basis. Just because we sin daily is no reason to quit saying Novenas.
