Is it common for Catholics to memorize the Bible or the catechism?

Just sheer curiosity. If I were a catholic I would probably just content myself with having a bible at home (which I do and I enjoy reading it very much) and a book containing the catechism. Do you guys often memorize them?
I would be willing to bet that nobody on the planet has memorised the entire Bible and/or Catechism!
I agree. I haven’t and couldn’t. Then again it is just me but I am sure I am in big company.

I don’t believe those guys who throw Biblical verses at us really know the Bible by heart too.

I also agree.

That’s why it is sooooo easy to discuss the bible with visiting Jehovah Witnesses or Mormons. They know very little. AND I ALWAYS OPEN THE BIBLE TO JOHN 6.

Jehovah Witnesses or Mormons emphasize their fellowship, which is very excellent.

Catholics focus on the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. It’s not fellowship and it’s not a service.

[Well, it’s Sunday and I have to start to get ready for Mass. And I would like a second cup of coffee.]

I too had my share of fun with them. You can talk to them about the Holy Spirit and see what their reaction will be.

The thing is they come with an agenda. You detract from it, then they will lose their train of thought, and that will confuse them.

My wife does not like me to entertain them. She thinks that I am only playing into the Devil’s hand.

Probably it is quite mean to toy with them. LOL.
