Is it correct to cross yourself after receiving the Eucharist?

I serve as a Eucharistic Minister at my parish. When I was trained, I was told that EMs are not to cross themselves after receiving and consuming the host while standing at the altar. They said that technically nobody should cross themselves after receiving. They’re not going to forbid it among the general congregation, but we as EMs should not do so.

I’m interested in knowing what the correct thing to do is and what the reasons are.
