Is it correct to say Catholics "worship" truth?

I am not aware of the “Divine Attributes” that the author refers to, however Jesus in John 14:6 does say He is “…the way, the truth and the life…”

Perhaps this is the context in which the author is speaking although I admit I skimmed the article and did not give it a critical read.

Eh.

Yes, I guess you could say it like that, provided it is understood that we mean God when we say truth, but I honestly think it is somewhat tasteless.

I prefer to say I worship God, the arbiter of all justice, the source of all truth, the giver of all mercy, and the source of all love.

Sounds much more dramatic.

😃

I wouldn’t really get hung up on that. It was simply the image the author chose for his “punchy” introduction to the article.

Since Jesus says He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and since we worship Jesus, it’s not completely incorrect to say that we worship Truth (with the understanding that we are really speaking of Jesus). I suppose we could also say we worship Life and Love, too. 🤷 But it’s not the phrase I’d lead with all the time.

The author did, more or less, put the statement in context so as not to be misunderstood. So, again, I wouldn’t get distracted by it. The main point he was making is that Catholics think very highly of the truth.

I would prefer to say that we respect the truth. Some of us even delight in the truth.

=Katholish;11371787]So this article (from a Catholic homeschooling magazine) claims that Catholics “worship” and “adore” truth because truth is an attribute of God. Has anyone heard it expressed that way before? Is it legitimate to say?
The term “worship” would make this an untrue and inaccurate statement.

CCC 2135 “You shall worship the Lord your God” (Mt 4:10). Adoring God, praying to him, offering him the worship that belongs to him, fulfilling the promises and vows made to him are acts of the virtue of religion which fall under obedience to the first commandment.

CCC 2136 “The duty to offer God authentic worship concerns man both as an individual and as a social being”.

To calim that God’s individual attributes “IS GOD” is a strech. God exemplifies TRUTH and every Good thing as well. But “God” id FAR more than any single attribute.👍

Well, that’s not entirely true, in Thomistic thought since God is entirely one God’s attributes are actually God himself, which makes this saying acceptable, but trying to understand exactly what Thomas means by this and why he says this can be a long and difficult trek, so I wouldn’t worry about it or get stuck on it.
