I want to share my faith, live my faith, answer sincere questions about it and defend it when challenged, but there are situations like my Father who is about to be 75 that I called yesterday and said there is no need for us to argue about our beliefs.
What point is it if he will not back down and I will not back down? I have to live my faith and hope that he will see something.
If someone wants to seek to understand through sincerity and not arguing, than I’m open for that. However, arguing, especially with my soon to be 75 year old father is not what I want to remember in his later years. He is strong in his protestant faith and Jesus. I have no doubt that he believes in the same Jesus that I do to the point of his understanding.
CCC 848 “Although in ways known to himself God can lead those who, through no fault of their own, are ignorant of the Gospel, to that faith without which it is impossible to please him, the Church still has the obligation and also the sacred right to evangelize all men.”
Evangelization done properly should be in love without an argumentative debate, but it’s often hard for all parties to be calm and civil. Myself included.
