I got slightly too angry with a parent.

Is that grave matter? I don’t think it is, but I’m feeling guilty so I have to ask.

You should honor your mother and father, which includes treating them with respect, even when upset or angry.

Best thing to do is to apologize, talk it over with your parent, and bring it up during your next confession just in case.

Your next post will be your 1,000th post, BTW, so use it well!

you post many many posts with these sorts of questions. I really urge you to talk about scrupulosity with your priest.

No, every little instance of anger and irritation is NOT a mortal sin. It is called being human. But some instances of anger can rise to the level of grave matter.

Look at the Catechism text of the Fifth Commandment and also the section dealing with Virtue to help you form your conscience.

It is counter productive to post these sorts of things here. They are not yes or no answers.

Anger is an emotion. Emotions are morally neutral.

It is when our actions are influenced by emotions when we can get into sin.

The Scriptures tell us “be angry and sin not”.

If your conscience is bothering you about it then you should go back to your parent and apologize and discuss why you got angry in the first place. Find out what bothered you.
