Is it hatred?

Is it hatred (defined in the way of being a mortal sin, such as, wishing one evil or harm), if I “hate” or dislike a pro-sports player and want him to stop playing the game and go away (by go away, I mean, retire) because he is a cheater and a liar and I’m disgusted by how many people look up to this evil person and just a thorough disgust of his pompousness, his arrogance, his attitude, and the way he calmly lies through his teeth like he has done nothing wrong? I don’t want him harmed or evil to come to him, just for me to never see his face again or hear his name again.

I don’t think it is hatred the way you put it because you are not wishing evil on him. However, we are supposed to love everyone. I don’t mean “like.” We can dislike people and that’s all right. That is an emotion. We will like some and not like others. Love is an act of the will by which we wish good for the other person and, of course, the greatest good is to get to heaven. It helps me when I have a really hard time with someone if I keep praying for him/her. That way, although I don’t like him, I am loving him and it helps me because I can get out of stewing over him. If you get a chance to read CS Lewis’ Mere Christianity he has a really good section explaining this.
