I knew of a woman who was willing to have sex outside marriage but not use BC. Oddly enough she was okay with her partners using condoms.

So, strangely enough, such people do exists.🤷
The woman sounds like her objection to BC was not the same as the Catholic one. Probably similar to my own objection to BC. (I am not Catholic.) I object to any BC that has potential to cause abortion. Condoms have no potential to harm the child should the woman become pregnant. The stance is only hypocritical if she also claims to be a practicing Catholic (or some other creed/religion that bans all ABC). šŸ˜‰

As for the OP question, It’s like saying ā€œIf you’re gonna sin, be sure and do several sins at once!ā€ Not doing one sin doesn’t justify the one you did. But at the same time, is it necessary to sin several ways just cause you are already sinning one way?

Neither is good but which is better, fornicating or fornicating AND contracepting?

She was Catholic. Sorry I didn’t make that clear. Maybe she was just confused as to what the Church teaches.

I have heard many stories of people who engage in immoral sex outside of marriage but who refuse to use birth control because of Catholic teaching. Is this hypocritical? Should people engaging in immoral sex be worried about their use of contraceptions, and will God look more favorabley upon those that don’t?
Does it really matter if you take a cab to hell or a bus?

Kidding. Really;)

Really? People are confused or do not know about Catholic teachings? I am shocked, simply shocked! šŸ˜›

I think the problem we have is society claims condoms are a ā€œcureā€. To think that contracepting while fornicating is a good it would mean denying that it actually increases problems.

The actor would think hey I am safe because I use a condom. That increases the chance of more bad behavior. It increases the chance more bad physical and emotional problems will occur. It furthers a serious sin and leads the person to think they are ā€œsafeā€.

Well I don’t believe condoms are ā€œSafe.ā€ But I guess then we are geting into the specific thoughts of the individuals doing it. I was jsut looking at it in a genreal sense of which is worse, 2 sins or one. if they do two sins, they are sinners twice over. If they sin only once, people are standing ready to condemn them for being hypocritical.

I would worry more about the mortal sin than being a hypocrite. Thats like not seeing the forest for the trees.
