Is it immoral to blind oneself?

If someone’s eye causes them to sin, is it immoral for them to take Our Lord’s words literally, and destroy their vision?
 
Hi,

Of course, the deliberate blinding of oneself is the mortal sin of mutilation of the body. Our Lord was using hyperbole: exaggeration to make the point that sinning is very serious business and should be avoided at all costs.
