Is it immoral to teach abortion and contraception?

Wow, that’s bad advice.

Right is always right and wrong is always wrong. You’re promoting moral relativism here-- something that should be detestable to Catholics.

If the job says she’s got to teach immorality, she’s either got to find another option or find another job. Maybe you can pass this category off to someone else? That’s not the best situation, but it might be a functional compromise.
Thanks but not it is not moral relativism.

If right is always right then Catholics could never take birth control for heath reasons because the secondary effect is contraception.

If she has to have a job to support her family and is asked to teach is something is legal or not there is nothing wrong with that. Now if she is asked to teach the moral implications and has to agree that it’s ok from a moral standpoint that is something completely different and would be “wrong.”

One other possibility, LadyJames, is to attend the classes with your students, but let them know your opinion on the subject matter. You have an opportunity to show your young charges that not everyone agrees these things are okay. I think that makes an impact on people, because they probably look up to you a bit and they’ve never really heard the other side on these issues. Take advantage of your opportunity to educate. I somehow doubt anyone will complain, especially in a prison-type situation. You can have these conversations with your students in a “well, this is my personal opinion for what it’s worth” kind of way. If anyone does complain, then you can just opt out of the classes as a resolution of the matter. But seriously, how can anyone complain when you are encouraging troubled kids to a greater morality? You’ll be accomplishing the same purpose - preventing STD’s and discouraging illegitimate births.
