People often read books in Adoration, so would it be inappropriate to quietly listen to a Catholic podcast with earbuds in my ears?

I don’t see why, provided you’re not disturbing those around you.

Although be prepared to read a bunch of indignant posts on CAF the next day.

“This disrespectful idiot was sitting there listening to his hip hop devil music during adoration!!! 🤬

Haha no kidding

The only reason I’m nervous about it is because when I use my phone to follow along with Mass, I feel like I might get “looks” from people.
Maybe I’m just being paranoid tho

I know what you mean. A couple of times in Mass today I checked my phone just for the time as I was cutting the Eucharistic fast awfully close ( made it with 5 minutes to spare😊) and felt so conspicuous.

No, you probably really are getting looks. The friend I go to Church with has made comments to me when I’ve had my phone out for some reason or another. Sometimes I’m taking notes on the homily.

No, you are not paranoid. I have the Liturgy of the Hours on the cell phone, and I have had a lot of assumptions made by others what I am doing on the phone. I have one priest who flatly refused to have any electronic devices in the sanctuary at all, even if it is to follow the Mass.

I love to listen to worship songs and prayers during adoration. It helps to keep my mind from wandering. Chances are you will get criticized.

Our church promotes the MyParish app which has the daily readings. Still don’t feel comfortable but I still use it on weekday masses. 🤷‍♂️

I suppose it depends on what you think you should be adoring in Adoration.

I notice that more and more parishes are saving $ by not ordering the version with the daily Mass.

I think this is most important. This is your quality time alone with the Lord. Each of us needs to spend it in the best way. That might vary from person to person.

I have listened to a podcast, an audio rosary, an audiobook of a spiritual nature, Gregorian chant and even a segment of Drew Mariani’s Divine Mercy prayer broadcast. I just usually make sure I spend some time in silent conversation with Jesus as well. I felt weird at first, but I got over it.

I sing the songs in my mind…we have very, very silent adoration. The pews in the chapel are also antique and sometimes I daren’t move to avoid creaking and cracking noises…from the furniture or my knees!

Setting aside any “looks” you might get, which I totally ignore myself, the main concern I would have is noise bleeding from the earbuds. I can usually hear some low level noise from other people’s earbuds when sitting near them in a quiet place. If you are in a small, very quiet chapel, others might hear the noise even if it’s very soft. If the adoration space is large, might not be a problem if you sit away from others.
