Our new Pope stated that moral relativism is the biggest problem facing our church today. You have stated it well. Now we need to do something about it, because if we are not part of the solution, we are part of the problem. Those are not my words but they certainly fit the occasion. Frequently, I have spoken out loudly my position which I believe is in compliance with what our Church teaches. To my horror, members of our own faith community disagree and follow the trends of society. I like to go with the words of St.Bruno…Christ, is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, and the cross stands firm!
Follow your conscience, pray to the Holy Spirit for the right words to get your message across. God be with you always! Be strong and fervent in your zeal to profess what is right. You may not get the support you hope for, but don’t knuckle down.

Congratulations! It is not easy to stand up and give the right message when those about you could care less. The world has gotten very permissive, anything goes, “don’t hurt my feelin’s-----”. “Don’t judge…(my actions)” on and on!!!

I say that even if you are the only one, let yourself be heard. It is important, (for our health) to decide which issues deserve our full attention, then go for it. I am a Guardian Ad Litem. I have stood up lots of times to “fight the battle”. Yes, I find myself hitting my head against that proverbial brick wall, but sometimes, it knocks some “sense” into my thick skull ! ( I am not ALWAYS right, darn!):o However, I am right MOST of the time!😃 Thanks to the help I get from above!🙂

Take care, remember, your Guardian Angel is riding on your shoulder, ask her/him for help. That Angel is only happy to oblige, but we have to listen very carefully , the angel speaks very softly.

God bless!!!
Love and peace

Welcome to everyday of my life. I love my Catholic faith, but it has isolated me. Very few people agree with me when it comes to morals and what is right and what is wrong. My best friend who is extremely liberal has nothing to talk about to me except for “old times.” We agree on nothing and she berely contacts me anymore. I called her 2 nights ago and she was telling me about this guy she was seeing (who was married, had kids, but was separated) then she said “Well, I know all this makes you uncomfortable…” She just thinks I judge her now.

And I can just forget it when it comes to contraception. No one wants to even hear me out. So I just say to them, “why don’t you go study the Catholic viewpoint with an open mind, then come talk to me.” That usually shuts them up because they’re not up to the challenge.

ARG! I wish I didn’t know so much!

Hi StratusRose. What you mention sounds like my everyday life. I also HAD a best friend who was a liberal Catholic and disagreed with me in virtually everything. Until about a year ago when she just stopped talking to me.

I’m 31 and I have 3 kids and my whole family cannot understand why I would be open to a big family. At my children’s Catholic school a fellow mom said to me “you are living in another world” when I told her I was open to life.

I think we are seeing the fulfillment of what the bible says will happen in the end times…PEOPLE THINK WHAT IS GOOD IS BAD AND WHAT IS BAD IS GOOD! (that’s my interpretation of the following scripture in Thessalonians):

“The coming of the lawless one by the activity of Satan will be with all power and with pretended signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are to perish, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends upon them a strong delusion, to make them believe what is false, so that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” (2 THessalonians 2:9-12)

God Bless.
In Christ,
Michelle

To DeniseR -

You Go Get 'Em Girl!

No, it’s not just you young lady. Just take a look right here at some of the people who have posted on these Forums.

You’ve got:
  • Mis-informed “Catholics”
  • Obstinate “Catholics”
  • Catholic-bashers
  • Extreme Right-Wing Conservative “Catholics”
  • Fly in-your-face Left-wing liberal nut case “Catholics”
… and everything else in between.

Almost no REAL Catholics to speak of.

That is, Catholics who are just lovingly obedient to the Church’s Teachings - which is as you and I know Denise - are Christs’ Teachings.

So in discussion with these ne’er do wells, these are MY rules:

Answer anybody’s question if they really want to learn and know something about what the Church actually teaches.

We are required to do at least that much before God.

BUT THEIR HEARTS MUST BE OPENLY WILLING TO WANT TO LEARN THE TRUE TEACING OF THE CHURCH!

As a result, I engage NO ONE who only wants to simply speak out AGAINST Church Teaching just for the sake of argument. I’ve met WAY TOO MANY of these types of people to not know that they are just looking to waste your time.

For only God Himself can enlighten the dulled minds of such people.

So Keep Fighting The Good Fight Denise - Your Reward Will Be Given To You In Heaven!

UPDATE:
Last night was our town meeting and the chairman (who is also a friend) was worried I would make a scene. The topic of adult entertainment was last on the agenda and there weren’t a lot of people left. When he presented the item he mentioned that we had a discussion the other night and asked me to speak for myself.

I said that I was bothered by the fact that we, as a governing body, don’t have the right to just deny adult entertainment establishments. We aren’t trying to make it banned all over the country since there are certainly communities that allow and welcome such establishments. However, we should have the right to ban it in our community if we believe it’s not an appropriate fit for our town. I simply said that my argument was more with the Supreme Court and their imposing on each and every community something that is not wanted and not an appropriate fit in every corner of this nation. I said I would go along with the proposed ordinance if the actual intent was to make it difficult for such an establishment to open up in our community. I did have some changes I would suggest, such as making the age of anyone working or entering such a place to be at least 21 years old.

That drew some criticism from a couple of the commissioners. They said that the age of majority was 18 and we might not be able to discriminate by law. I countered that not only was alcohol consumption banned for those under 21 but casinos also denied access to anyone under 21.

The result is that we decided to talk with the attorney and have him present at the next meeting to guide us a little more in determining the zoning districts that we could write into the ordinance that would allow for adult establishments to protect the town from liability.

Most of the commissioners agreed that we need to make it as difficult as possible but protect the town from a lawsuit. They still argued that we have to just go along with the courts rulings and seemed like we coulen’t even disagree with what the court said. They took the civil law as if it came from God himself and seem to ignore the fact that there is a higher law. I purposely didn’t bring religion or faith or morals into the discussion except to use the word “pervert” at one point. I forgot I was in a crowd with people who have gone to such places and don’t believe themselves to be perverts. Oops! A little judgemental on the rhetoric but otherwise I kept my temper and tried to keep it non-personal.
