…or does the Family Life forum seem more like a Soap Opera these days. When I first arrived at CAF in 2007 it was actually quite a fun place to hang out. Now it’s just plain sickening!

well, I only joined about a year ago, so I can’t say how it’s changed over the years, but perhaps it’s just that more and more people with serious problems are looking to reconnect with their Catholic faith. Maybe something has happened over the last few years that has brought more people to seek guidance and help from the Church. that would be a good thing, no?

i agree with all of the above. And add that there are a lot of people who are addicted to posting all their problems and get more out of that than they would from actually solving problems.

Look at the bright side. We could be stuck being their real-life confidantes. (Still, if done with charity, I suppose it is a good way to work off a few thousand years in Purgatory for our own bouts of ungrateful self-pity, for those in get-it-over-with camp. )

Even if you are correct 90% of the time (which I highly doubt), there’s 10% of the time you are (if you “call them out”) heaping misery on people in terrible situations who are looking for help.

I’d rather feed 9 trolls and help 1 genuine person than accuse them all of trolling.

I’m with this. For every person who is making up some situation in order to troll a forum, there are probably ten searching the internet for answers to a situation similar to theirs, but who don’t want to post (for obvious reasons).

I see this forum as a way to socialize with fellow Catholics not a place to share sob story after sob story. I do wish some of the repeat offenders would be banned. I mean, writing style isn’t that difficult to recognize and many of the worst offenders don’t even bother to hide anyway. It can’t be that hard to spot them when you can track their IP. I see many many members get banned for much less obnoxious behavior.
