Hi I’m a Catholic college student on secular campus. My teacher is requiring us to go and see the play “Orestiea”. From what I’ve read online, especially on Wikipedia, makes me feel it is immoral. Can I go to this play, if so, why? And if not, what are some good reasons so that I can justify it with this teacher. I’m sorry this is not an apologetics questions really but I don’t know who else to ask!

Hi,

While the content may be unpleasant to see, one has to keep in mind that it is a Greek tragedy. Granted, it is not Christian. If you think it would be an occasion of sin for you, I could see your concern. But it’s a Greek tragedy and no more. I don’t see any sin in attending it as a class assignment.
