Is it necessary to receive communion when being confirmed?

If you weren’t culpable (and let’s face it most people who are unfortunate to have been invalidly baptised aren’t) then there is no sin - it really is just that simple; you can’t unintentionally sin. You did all that was expected of you in good faith - what more would God require? God isn’t legalistic and neither should we be.

There are many, many, many elderly and vunerable people who haven’t been able to go to Mass at all or even be out in the public since March, who just long to just live a normal life, long to go to Mass and long to receive the Eucharist regardless if receiving in the hand or on the toungue.

All priests who have given me Holy Communion since the “pandemic regulations” started in March in my diocese, have been very careful and reverent in how they give the Sacred Host on my hand.

I am looking forward to receiving the Host on my toungue again but I respect that the bishop/priests might prefer something different during pandemic times.

I am even looking forward to cleaning the water font when it will be back in use, which I didn’t expect.

But you didn’t though, did you?
His receiving itself would not be a mortal sin, true (or possibly no sin at all). But he may (or may not) have have been in a state of mortal sin at the time he received, as none of his confessions were valid. I believe that is what he was trying to say.

In confession, you are guaranteed of forgiveness. There is no doubt. Outside of confession, you don’t know for sure.
