Last week one of our deacons said that a parent had asked him to talk to a son. The son wanted to miss Mass since his baseball team plays on Sunday morning. The deacon said that he asked the young man why he attended Mass. The young man gave what the deacon felt was an adequate spiritual reason. The deacon said that he wished the young man well and told him to go to his games and not worry about attending Mass. Is this consistent with the Church’s teachings about Mass attendance?
