I was given a gift from a student. It’s a “Persian candy”. It was prepared in the traditional way which I assume to mean according to Islamic law. Does it go against any Catholic teaching to eat it?

It is perfectly fine to eat (1 Cor 8:1-8). However, Persian does not necessarily mean Islamic, Persian culture and food predates Islam.
