On Game of Thrones, I would say just read the books. They’re not nearly as racy. The TV show does an incredibly annoying thing called “sexplanation”, which two characters discuss something critical to the plot or backstory during a sex scene, so you can’t really fast-forward through them. If you do watch the show, be sure to thicken your skin and keep your spiritual gas mask on.

Or maybe just skip the dirty parts and watch it for the plot. Or further analysis of how sin affects human nature. That’s what I do.

It would be best for all Catholics to avoid TV shows that show immoral sex, profanity and general vulgarity. They tear down society, not build it up. The “Hey. What’s the big deal?” approach regarding casual immorality needs to be abandoned.

Unless of course, Catholic morality is being questioned. Then you’re free to spout insensitivity and flaunt your moral purity without shame. Or alternatively, you put yourself down and bemoan media, mass culture, and humanity in general because everyone is in a cesspool off sin. Nobody should be entitled to enjoy anything and should be so proud to live in this day and age.

I don’t see why you can’t.

Personally speaking, I watch none of the above. I think they are all boring.

I prefer watching cooking shows, Railroad Alaska and Extreme Engineering which may not be everyone’s idea of interesting, but I’m weird that way.

As a media expert, I am required to keep track of it as part of my job, and by the grace of God, it is also a vocation.
