Is it okay to ask God to stop my hunger during a fast, I think in this way I grow closer to God because I realize my dependence for him. But I am just wondering.

isn’t the point of fasting to feel the discomfort and offer it up? If you ask God to remove the discomfort of fasting what is the point of fasting then?

But what if it is too hard and I need help, then can I ask God for help then while fasting? With my normal sufferings I ask God for help, I often offer it up first though, but if it is too much for I ask for help, I think the true meaning of it is at least your trying and after you ask for help he sees it the same as offering it up and gives the grace out, as equally as much as he would if I offered up. What I am saying is whether or not I offer something up, or I ask for help(God realizes our efforts and helps others accordingly). I think God gives out the same grace whether or not we offer our sufferings up, or ask for help( but we must at least try first and not say “eek help” after 2 steps) …Kind of complicated but I hope this makes sense.

Fasting today, mainly helped me to become closer to God and rely on God. It made me wanna pray more as well, it helped me see my true relience on God. You do bring up a Great point as well.

Can someone help me, I feel like I am being ignored…

I would like to be like Simon of Cyrene; helping Jesus to carry His Cross. However, after a few steps I usually am asking Him to help me carry mine. 😦

So based on all these replies, what is the overall conclusion.

I would recommend something close to that: to ask God for help, in your hunger. Trusting Him to help you in the best of all ways - whether that help is to end your suffering in your hunger, or whether it is strength to endure, or whether it is greater mindfulness of Him in the midst of the hunger, or whether it is a still greater hunger for the bread of eternal life. Or in any and all ways that He, in HIs wisdom, knows of your true needs, Help!.

As Jesus taught, “Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us, this day, our daily bread.” And He knows very well the bread that you, and I, most need this day.

One of the things I always do when I ask God for His help, is always end that request with"…and your will, not mine Lord."

PAX

John
