Hello,
I recently took up surfing…partly through seeing the presence of a group called Christian Surfers. I attended one activity of theirs…a viewing of a surf movie with a Christian message. I am impressed by the sincerity in their commitment to Jesus and the Gospels and am eager to expand my social circle within the surfing community in my area. I am wondering if there would be any drawbacks to joining this group and attending meetings and activites? There are no specific Catholic surfer groups (though my parish’s parochial vicar is, himself, a surfer) that I know of. I’ve checked the group’s website and ministry statements and they seem to be a multi-denominational group. Would it be a benefit to represent Catholics (though I am not looking to evangelize as such) within this organization?
