I am consider myself as someone who aspires to be a faithful Catholic, I had a deep conversion to my Lord Jesus through the Charismatic Renewal and have since found a deep love for Him also through the Traditional Latin Mass.

I have found God speaking to me personally through Scripture to ‘rejoice always’ and ‘make melody in our hearts to him’ to express this in spiritual dancing in my personal prayer times at home and at charismatic meetings. I agree dancing at Mass is inappropriate, but I wonder if you think a Traditional Catholic getting involved in spiritual dancing outside of the liturgy is ok?

King David did, why shouldn’t you? Not only that it’s okay, I believe GOD would even be more than pleased to see His children rejoicing.

Isn’t that what the Bible says…"Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say rejoice! 🤩🤩🤩

You’re not doing it at Mass, and I presume you’re not doing it anywhere else that it might disturb or distract others (for instance, not in the Adoration chapel, and not in the church worship space before Mass) so whatever you want to do during your private devotional time in your own private space is up to you.

I personally think it would be awesome if we had Catholic Dervishes.
I read a folk tale once as a child, about a Muslim dervish who became ill and was nursed back to health by monks who venerated the Virgin Mary, so when the Muslim recovered he vowed to become her dervish and would whirl every day in front of her icon. It was a nice story.

Edited to add, I found it online. I misremembered, it was Carmelite nuns and not monks. The book is from 1930 and was in a library in a really Protestant part of the country. As an adult I always wondered how it ended up there.

I guess I’m fuzzy on the question. You want to know if it is ok to privately “dance” before God outside of the liturgy while not disturbing others?

Sure.

Well now you have to describe it. Please detail exactly what you are talking about. Especially the publically part.

At Catholic charismatic praise meetings. Hands in the air and swaying the body, twirling etc lol.

It’s obviously fine there, they’ve been doing that stuff for decades. As long as you’re not at a Mass and aren’t knocking into people, I don’t see the harm.

Seriously ANY time and anywhere that we dance is actually 'before God", whether it is me doing the funky chicken in the privacy of my own loungeroom or a prima ballerina on stage in London or New York.

And all can be done in a way which glorifies Him.

If you’re going to do it in church do make sure the pastor is OK with it though.
