I know that some vaccinations are made with cells that come from aborted babies:
immunize.org/concerns/furton.pdf
I think this years flu shots will only come from chicken eggs. But next year I guess they will start using cell based flu-shots. Does anyone know if the cells in next years flu shot will come from aborted babies?

pandemicflu.gov/individualfamily/vaccination/index.html
“For decades, vaccines have been produced in chicken eggs. This process is time-consuming and for some flu seasons has resulted in flu vaccine shortages early in the flu season. Cell-based vaccine production takes less time, and has the added benefit of allowing persons who are allergic to eggs to receive the vaccine. Cell-based vaccine is not expected to become available until 2011.”

pandemicflu.gov/professional/federal/vproductioncells.html
“The new approach would use **mammalian cells **(kidney cells are often used) to grow the influenza viruses. Cell-based vaccine production could more easily meet “surge capacity needs” because cells could be frozen and stored in advance of an epidemic or developed rapidly in response to an epidemic. Cell-based vaccine production dramatically reduces the possibility for contamination and promises to be more reliable, flexible, and expandable than egg-based methods.”

What are mammalian cells?

Thank you for this heads up, but I think it might be OK.

Mammalian cells just means cells from mammals, including humans. From what I know, the vaccines using cell lines taken from aborted babies are lung tissue cells and this article discusses using kidney cells for future flu vaccine production which apparently are from an adult or even non-human source. (For example, I believe the polio vaccine is made in monkey kidney cell culture.)

But I don’t really know. I now know however to look into this and try to find out before next year’s flu vaccine. I do know that this year’s flu vaccine is all produced in chicken eggs which do not pose a moral problem.

And for those who have never heard about this issue before, the chicken pox and shingles vaccines and some kinds of the rubella and hepatitis A vaccine are produced in cell lines that originated in aborted fetuses.

There may be more problems than the ethical problem of “source” with using vaccines (not saying the Flu this year…I heard it is fine) that come from aborted cell lines…(not to downplay the ethical ones already known…) …in vaccines etc…

Thanks for the link.

I had forgotten that the rabies vaccine was also on the list. I don’t think the polio vaccine listed as problematic is available for use in the US. Not sure about elsewhere in the world.

Not sure what you mean that there are problems other than the source of the cells used in manufacture. The link you give is exactly about that. Did I miss something?

Read the research…regarding aultism and vaccines using these cell lines…

there is perhaps a link…

I heard that the link between autism and vaccines was disproven in the Lancet recently.

a that was NOT about this…this is new. they were talking about something different…(usually some feared themerisal in them…which is not mostly not in any except some like some of the flu shots (though one can get single dose ones without it or with very little.) …

this is about Residual DNA …

This is research work being down by a very credentialed scientist on the question of if some childhood vaccines from cell lines created from aborted Children are related to the the triggering of autism…due to perhaps residual DNA…such is not proven …but it is an important question to be informed on.

The doctor who is heading it up appeared not long ago on EWTN…(regarding another pro-life matter) soundchoice.org/leadership.html

She is no fly by night doctor…

Dr. Deisher’s discoveries, particularly in the fields of cardiovascular biology and stem cell research, continue to be considered some of the most significant in the scientific community, including her initial discovery and identification of adult heart stem cells. She has published numerous scientific manuscripts as well as materials for lay people on the factual aspects of adult stem cell research successes. Dr. Deisher is often sought out for her candid and rational look at the scientific research that is being done in the field of regenerative medicine and stem cell research and is a frequent international lecturer and guest speaker in the area of stem cell technology and regenerative medicine.

Note: she opposes fetal -stem cell research…

PS some of them have alternatives for them…for instance I recall the one if you do them as single vaccines not as combined…the single ones come from a fine source…

(there are lists out there of them…and how each is produced)

Oh man, this kind of thinking really scares me.

Vaccines DO NOT cause autism. DO NOT. PERIOD. Thimerosal was linked to autism by a quack. Don’t believe everything Jenny McCarthy tells you.

Vaccines will never use fetal cells; manufacturers know the controversy and won’t put something on the market that people will refuse to take for moral reasons. If they don’t use chicken eggs, they’ll use cells from another animal, whether it be adult cells or fetal cells. They will not use human cells.

Vaccines only work if the total population gets them. A vaccine isn’t just personal protection, it’s community protection. If some people get it and some people don’t, the community as a whole suffers. Vaccines are important. Please don’t let hearsay affect your decision.

(Can you tell this is a passionate subject with me?):o

Ah…I am afraid you are incorrect on the “fetal cells”…if you wish read the information on the site I provided. (I do not want to scare you…beyond a reasonable concern) …this is not some fly by night organization…this is a very credentialed Scientist who actually who is proficient in her field (just read about her discoveries and her work)…she is not a Quack…(I know you did not say she is)…also she recently appeared on EWTN…if that helps --regarding her involvement in the recent court case…

Now it needs to be said…that her research is ongoing…and there is not a conclusion yet…

This has NOTHING to do with hearsay. Read the website newsletters etc.

soundchoice.org/education.html

And yes it is absolutely true that some vaccines are produced from fetal cell lines from aborted children…no doubt about this. Some of these have alternatives …some do not.

(this is regarding some vaccines…not saying the flu shot (I was told a month ago that such was fine…so unless something has changed it is fine in regards “cell lines”)

Also please do not let your fear cause you to jump to conclusions (such is easy to do) …on either side. Reason and prudence and evidence etc need to inform our judgments.

Update:

I got a flu shot on Sunday. The form I had to fill out asked me if I was allergic to chicken eggs and other things. So I’m assuming chicken eggs were used in this years flu shot.
