Is it ok to have a Mass said for a deceased priest?

My former pastor died yesterday. :crying: I found out today when I went to Mass. The wake has not yet been scheduled. At the funeral parlour, there are always envelopes where one can make a donation and check off what it is to be used for. I was thinking of making an offering for Masses. I have never seen a Mass offered for a deceased priest, though. Would it be appropriate for me to make an offering for Masses to be said for my former pastor?

I am sorry that your former pastor passed away.
It is more than ok, lak! You can make as many times as you could.
God bless you for thinking of him. Everyone including any pope needs this offering.

Yes, of course! All departed souls need the help of the most powerful prayer of all- the Mass.

Note that priests and bishops carry a heavy responsibility for those in their charge. Somewhere is says that to he whom much is given much is expected. Thus prayers for deceased priests and bishops, and all leaders, are especially important.
