Thank you, I look forward very much to returning to Spain for a visit. The cathedrals in Zaragoza and Burgos are favorites of mine. I love Avila, the Escorial, La Alhambra, Torremolinos, but my favorite place in Spain is probably Segovia with its huge aqueduct! I loved every minute I spent in Spain!

You know what? The other day I was visiting my brother in Valladolid. On the way back the highway was closed due to snow and I ended up sleeping in the car in Segovia near the aqueduct. Next morning I woke up it was all snowy and amazing and I stayed there all day. Beautiful!!

That’s GORGEOUS! I love Segovia so much! And I love the mountains of Montserrat near Barcelona. I drove to Barcelona one time and spent the night in my car at a gas station, one of the big ones that sold food. In the morning, I bought my breakfast, then drove through the Montserrat Mountains. So gorgeous. Once I get to Madrid, I have a hard time deciding whether to go north to Burgos or south to Cordoba, Sevilla, and Motril. And don’t get me started on Granada or Ronda. I love them!

Once I get to Madrid
Where I live 😊
Granada or Ronda
Your compatriot (unless you’re not from the US, in which case sorry) Washington Irving lived in Alhambra for some time, and Orson Welles is buried in Ronda. Can’t say I blame them or you for loving those cities. They really are great. So many civilizations have passed through here, I feel immensely lucky I’ve inherited such a history.

I didn’t know those things! Thank you!

You are lucky to be Spanish. You have such a rich and wonderful heritage! And yes, I am from California, which is where I live now. Spanish is spoken here, and we are proud of it!

My mother was from Brazil, and I do love Brazil, but I’m not nearly as keen on Portugal as I am on Spain.

Ah yes, good old California. Probably the closest thing to Mediterranean Spain you guys have over there.

You’re lucky to be American, you guys got a lot to be proud of. You helped us out a whole lot back in the 50s when the Spanish people were hungry and Spain was isolated from the world. Not to mention you saved Europe from the Nazis and later the Soviet Union. Besides, your flag rocks!! I also get the impression you guys are more religious than we are here in Europe, which is good!

I went to visit the naval base the US has in Rota, Cádiz. A lot of people want to expel you guys from there, I don’t, I think it’s great to have you here. There’s also a lot of Americans in Madrid and my experience with them has always been good, you’re good people, you also showed me that when I went to the US

And finally, the American accent is absolutely beautiful!! It’s a pleasure to hear you guys speak!!

Yes it is. It’s probably the most well known landmark of Segovia

A statue of the Virgin Mary was built into the aqueduct at some point, looks great

Is that a Roman aqueduct? I only ask because it looks like it is in pretty good condition compared to many I’ve seen throughout Europe.
It’s magnificent, Milt! When I was in Segovia, one could drive his or her car through one of the openings. So impressive! And Segovia is just beautiful!

So many towns have Spanish names here, but Florida is actually more like the Mediterranean, I think.

Thank you for the compliments on America! We are quite diverse!

Another view of the aqueduct from Wikipedia:

The first time I actually saw it, Milt, I was just speechless! It was so beautiful! And the city of Segovia is beautiful! It’s not far from Avila, but so, so different. It’s worth a plane ticket to Spain just to visit Segovia!
