He is a Passionist named is Brian D’Arcy and he presents a program on the radio in the U.K.
I’m a bit worried about his wikipedia page that says:
Father D’Arcy has publicly opposed the existing displinary norms regarding clerical celibacy and has sought the possibility to ordain married priests
Nothing like this comes across in the program he hosts so is it still alright to listen to it?

Hey again FAH,

Celibacy is a discipline and not a doctrine. There is nothing heretical in opposing it.

I’d say as long as he is still giving due respect to the authority of the Church it’s okay. Although, I didn’t really have time to read through the links you posted.

I do not know this priest. However, I do wonder what people think will be accomplished IF the Vatican ever allowed priests to marry. The RCC has its pedophile scandal. Some erroneously believe that they (the pedophile priests) would not have done this if they were married. A woman does not want to be her husband’s keeper. And there are more than enough cases of molestation committed by biological relatives and family friends. If a man turns pedophile because he isn’t married, than be cautious around recently widowed grandpa etc.
If priests married, do we really think there wouldn’t be divorce, separations, abuse of some form? Do Catholics really believe Protestant ministers have it all? They don’t have problems with wives, and their children?
I mentioned this to a Jewish friend, thinking the Jews had it all together. He laughed because his married rabbi had taken off with his secretary along with the money in the building fund. Then there is the NJ rabbi who murdered his wife, the mother of his kids, to run off with his mistress.

How do you ordain a married priest?

If you’re a priest… you’ve already been ordained right?

I have read for example where married Anglican priests want to convert to Catholicism and remain in the priesthood… and they have been allowed. I would assume by approval from the Vatican.

There is def. some wiggle room allowed.

But I do imagine the priesthood being quite difficult on the family life. Especially financially… the way things are done right now…

i thought priest were suppose to marry the Church not women
