I have so many chores to do during the day I start at 7am and don’t finish till around 3-4pm at which point I have to take my dogs for a walk then I get back and I’m so tired I say “I’ll do the rosary later” and I do actually do it later but then I feel bad because I’m only saying it once a day and I feel like I should be doing it more sometimes if I forget to say the rosary like I could be drifting off to sleep then suddenly think “omg I forgot to say the rosary” I’ll get up and just say the small peace rosary is this ok? I do pray when I wake up and before I go to sleep also do bible study every night at 8pm

When I am “on a roll” I can get it said once a day or even more than once. But when things are hectic I am lucky if I can get it said 3-4 times a week as required by my Rosary Confraternity membership.

My mother would try to say it every day but usually would fall asleep praying it. This went on for decades.

Just do the best you can.

i have to admit I rarely do the rosary, as I usually do the chaplet of St Joseph. And on occasions the chaplet of St Jude or the chotki…

You can pray the Rosary as much or as little as you like. It’s a great practice, but it’s not mandatory.

I say it 4 times a day and novena once. I have times set on alarm and 5 minutes before the hour it goes off and I stop what I’m doing and get ready, and say it…

I wish I could do that! Unfortunately my days are usually quite hectic, I consider myself lucky if i had a minute to say even a single decade.

Not sure if it is intentional or not, but this is actually quite funny!

And as others have said, there is no requirement to say a daily rosary. One of the lovely things about the Church is that it is a wide house, with room for many practices and charisms.

Someone told me your sopose to say the rosary 3 times a day and that our lady said we should pray it 25 hrs a day

Haha, I just realized I said “Decades” LOL that was unintentional. 😁

Mom said she always heard that if you fell asleep saying the Rosary, the angels would finish it for you. I bet she kept some angels busy. I am sure she did manage to finish a few but she said them in pieces in between other activities in her day. Like if she had to wait in the car to pick me up from school, she’d knock off a decade while waiting. It wasn’t the most focused or organized form of prayer but the important thing was I saw her praying. Dad was the opposite and would sit down with a rosary and crank straight on through and be done in 15 minutes.

My mum use to pray in the far on long journeys if it was a really long drive she’d do about 30-40 decades

That’s just someone’s private opinion. A lot of times people will claim that their personal practice is somehow the requirement, and it’s not.

If you want to say three rosaries a day, awesome. But you’re not required to.

I do that too. My “record” was 13 Rosaries in one day driving from Philadelphia to Dayton. I felt a bit punch drunk when done. I haven’t done more than 3 in a row in the car lately because due to my personal disorganization last year I got 80 Divine Mercy chaplets behind as I say one each day for a specific person on a list, and I have had to focus on getting caught up on Divine Mercies while still keeping up the 1 per day requirement. So instead of 6 Rosaries in the car I would say Divine Mercies lately. I am now down to only 17 Divine Mercies behind and I will be all caught up.

And if Pope Francis thinks this is too rote or that I should just say one Divine Mercy and add 80 people to it…no, this is part of my self-discipline.

I know people, and I have gone through periods in my life, when I said the Rosary many times each day. If I was driving to/from work, I was saying the Rosary, on a boring conference call? I was praying a Rosary. In the shower? Praying a Rosary. My evening walk? I think you get the idea.

At the same time, we are never obligated to say even one Rosary in our lives. It is a private devotion.

At this point in my life, extemporaneous prayer is what happens all day long in my “internal dialogue”, just a conversation with God. Keeps me from overthinking things and from dwelling on the bad stuff. Night Prayer is important to me because it keeps some scripture in my day and I always feel so connected to the Universal Church when I pray any of the Office.

@Rosie11, you post as such a kind hearted person, do not let anyone make you feel guilty about your prayer life. Talk to God. That is what matters. The form of the prayer is up to you.

Do not take your religious lessons from that person, they do not know what they are talking about.

Lets think about this… how do you pray the rosary 25 hours a day if you need to sleep? Surely God wants us to be able to work to provide for our family. Well, I cant pray the rosary and do my job at the same time. It can literally get me or a co worker killed because I need to be alert and safe as possible. Why would our lady want to put me in danger like that?

Pray the rosary as often as you can but there is no obligation to pray it at all. Either once a day or multiple times a day.

I was actually never able to pray just anywhere. For me, if there’s no quiet, prayerful atmosphere, I don’t pray. Mother Mary deserves quality time, in my opinion. Mostly I just say three Hail Mary’s in the blissful few minutes after waking up before I have to go out to face whatever disasters await my immediate attention in the outside world🤣.
