Hello everyone.

Is it ok to tell a man that you find him attractive and handsome? Would that make a woman sound too forward?

I hope men and wome will answer this question. What do you all think?

If it’s a man that you know, I think it’s fine, if you are interested in a relationship, because that would definitely get his attention.

If it is a random stranger, I’d say yeah, it’s too forward.

I think you can probably get away with saying something like, “I love that blue on you, Dave!” or “Cute tie!” The point is made that you notice how he looks, but you haven’t gone too far.

I’m a man.

Sure it’s OK. Certainly it is OK.

Who is this man? Someone you want to date, are dating, have no interest in dating, merely a friend? The answer to this will affect everything.

If a woman told me she found me attractive, I’d be flattered. Back when I was single I’d take this to mean she was probably interested in me. Now that I’m married, it’s really only appropriate for my wife to say this sort of thing to me, which thankfully sometimes she does.

It is for someone I like. I have no plans in asking him out. I think thats a man’s job. I just think he is very handsome thats all 🙂

Gal.

I think a lot depends on your local culture and your current relationship.

It isn’t necessarily wrong. However, (and this is coming from a woman) it sounds like you think/hope that if you tell him, he will ask you out. And the reality is, paying a man a compliment is no guarantee he will ask you out. My main point is I don’t think you should get your hopes up

I think it’s fine. Guys are fairly uh…slow to pick upon things…Sorry guys.
They like a little flirting. A LITTLE.
Good luck!
😉

No. No, no, no.

Yes. Way too forward.

Please don’t do this.

Let him tell you first how beautiful you are. What you’re planning on doing is one of the zillion ways of chasing men by making the 1st move. Let him chase you until you catch him. Don’t deny him the thrill of the chase. Men love to hunt. Let him.

This is only my opinion however. But chasing men never worked for me. Things always went better for me when I let them do the chasing.

I’m a man and 30 and I wish you can say it to me :). Sometimes men would like women to make the first move because most of the time it is hard to know what a women is really thinking.

I have no plans in chasing the guy. Its just a compliment that keeps popping in my head. Guys, do you think this compliment is considered chasing?.. Thanks for all the replies. I appreciate them

I asked my DH out on our first date. It was the best decision I’ve ever made. We’ll be married 17 years in August. He said he really wanted to ask me out, but he was just too shy. So, sometimes a little encouragement is better than a chase.

To be brutally honest, I can’t believe that there’s even a discussion about this in the 21st century.

It’s fine. If that’s how you feel, let him know. I can’t imagine that any man would be bothered by it, except if you say it in a creepy way or something.

No, paying a man a compliment is not chasing him. You like him and you are hoping he will ask you out. Nothing wrong with that. You are giving him a hint that you like him by telling him that you think he is handsome. Don’t listen to anyone saying that you cant do that, or should not do that for whatever reason. I am a 29 year old man and I never mind getting compliments like that from women. Unfortunately the only women who tell me they think I am handsome these days are middle aged women. They are the only women who ever wink at me either  I would love to get a compliment like that from a woman my own age. But it is very far and few in between the times they do.

However, I will say that when a long time female friend gives me a compliment about my looks, I don’t take it seriously. If a woman that I just became friends with told me she thought I was handsome, I would be more inclined to think that she might like me. How good of friends are you with this guy? I say do it. Oh yeah, but like another poster said, don’t be creepy about it 😃 Maybe when the topic of looks, or styles, or good looking actors come up. Something to do with looks.

Just ask him out. It is not a “man’s job” to do the asking.

I really don’t understand why you may think telling a man he is very handsome is appropriate, but asking him on a date is inappropriate. It’s sort of like you’re fishing for him to invite you out. I’d find it quite odd I think.

Well I’ve always thought that a good Catholic man wouldnt like a woman complimenting him or asking him out… Maybe I am wrong… Thanks for the info

Men love that kind of flattery. It would make my life if a woman said that to me. More women should be that forward (in a good way). Tell him.

I once told a girl I thought she was very beautiful and she said “I know”, lol…here’s hoping he’s nicer than that!
