In the second part of the book (written in modern days by Thomas Nelson) “Hell”, we read that shopping on Sunday is a mortal sin. I haven’t read it as such in most examinations of consciouses, but I can see how shopping on Sundays inspirers those (who may or may not know better but would like to make extra money for their biz) who run the store or chain to keep the place open on Sunday, thus requiring help of those many of whom don’t know any better or don’t care to take those jobs–making God’s Will for us obstructed in that way. In a way it could be an accessory to another’s mortal sin if they knew better or if you think you might be scandalizing someone in there or elsewhere by raising the demand for Sunday hours.
Still, a very conservative priest said it’s ok to get service from a business if it’s a place of (clean) entertainment (I guess because it is recreation, which is what Sunday is for) or food.
What do you know? Anyone? Thanks!
Phil
