Do you really think that God created us for the sole purpose of thinking about him in every moment of existence? Do you think Adam and Eve spent every second contemplating thier creator? mabe they just stopped to smell the roses…for a while

Where are people getting the idea the the OP struggles from scrupulosity? I see nothing that says that and do not have any idea why it would be assumed.
It is my impression based on other posts from Magicsilence. I’m not pretending to be making a diagnosis, I’m expressing a concern that I think is reasonable.

Im not talking about innapropriate films.

Just normal films like bambi, batman, spiderman, whatever else.

That do not cause you to sin.

I feel wrong after watching any film now because i feel like i should be waiting for Christ at all moments.

Therefore, my question is, it is ever morally ok to watch a film just to enjoy it?

In Christ.

As long as they are not by Michael Moore…

JUST KIDDING. It is OK to watch films

Keep in mind that it is important to have some form of recreation every day. Even in strict monasteries and convents it is part of their rule to have recreation.

In reading the autobiography of St. Therese I learned that they had plays and laughed a lot during their recreation time.

Also, St. Teresa of Avila corrected a young nun who decided to not stay for recreation so she could “go to her cell and contemplate”. St. Teresa of Avila said to her, "Go to your cell and contemplate the Lord, we will make merry with Him here.

Recreation makes for a balanced person. Having said that, I will share that I do not watch television or go to movies, except for maybe once a year, for an exceptional movie. I find that TV disturbs my peace and prayer life.

I do have recreation daily though. It consists of calligraphy/artwork, and gardening. Although I go to retreats about twice, sometimes three times a year, I also meet friends socially and relax.

So, perhaps what is good recreation for some (a good movie) is not for someone else. We all have different personalities, but we do not rest and recreation.

Peace,

Dorothy

sounds like scrupulosity to me brother…
Talk to your Spiritual Director/ confessor. If you do not have one, I suggest you get one. I suffered from scrupulosity too.

Yes. Enjoying something is not sinful - as for your reason, that is why detachment is important. By being detached from what we enjoy, we enjoy that thing, while being ready to give it up if need be, in favour of what is more important. If, for example, somebody wanted to watch something that was on the TV at the same time as what you wanted to see, giving up what you wanted to see in favour of someone else’s preference would be an example of detachment.

In Christ.
