Is it okay for a Catholic to have an Eastern Orthodox priest bless his house?

There is a very friendly Armenian Orthodox priest and his wife who live in my housing complex. I have not had any luck getting a Catholic priest over to my new place to bless it, as there are so few of them in the area, and they are all incredibly busy. If an Eastern Orthodox priest was willing and eager to do so, would it be all right for me to accept this act of service from him?

Thanks!

I would say yes. You are not receiving Sacraments from them so there should be no problem.

There was recently a thread on this in the Eastern Catholic Forum. I can’t find it at the moment. The general consensus was that there was no problem.

As I understand it, we (Latins) can get any “pastoral services”, up to and including the Sacraments, from the Orthodox, but they need special permission to get them from us. As a courtesy, though, we generally tell our people not to unless there’s no other option, out of respect for Orthodox sensibilities on the matter.

But I’m pretty sure with a minor thing like a blessing a priest is allowed to do for anyone, even a pagan or atheist.

If you’ve tried to get a Catholic priest to do it and have been unable then I see no reason why you can’t get your home blessed by an Eastern Orthodox priest
