Is it okay for a gay man to marry a woman

and alternatively,

a gay woman to marry a man.

If the gay woman had a masculine brain and walked masculine, talked kinda masculine and had the social presence and humour of a man. And she decided to live by her christian ideals and marry a man and have children. The man is just a normal man who just wants a wife. They’d have the social presence of 2 men living together because they had masculine psychology.

Or if an effeminate acting man who had a bit of a mince, and liked to tidy and clean things around the house and liked talking about what was going on in his mind and his feelings, and he married a woman. Their social presence would be abit like having 2 women together, similar attributes, similar conversation and interests because they erred on the side of femininity together.

These were just scenarios I thought up, what do you think of them? Do you think their marriage will succeed? Do you think the idea is ludicrous? or honorable, since clearly the man and woman are gay in their natures but they’ve decided to abide by the christian guidelines about living a moral life.

As long as there is no other impediment, there is no barrier to a man who sufffers from SSA marrying a woman or a woman who so suffers marrying a man.

Additionally, some of what is considered effeminite in a man in the US is not at all considered unusual or unmasculine in other cultures. I imagine the same is true for women.

I like your answer…👍

To seem to some to be more feminine or masculine than one’s peers is not the same as suffering from homosexual tendencies, let alone deep-seated homosexual tendencies. There is no reason someone might not prefer and choose an “atypical” spouse in that regard, and as long as someone is willing and able to fulfill the duties of marriage, they are free to marry. Of course it could work, and it might work famously well. The only person that has to be satisfied that you fulfill your marital role properly, after all, is your spouse!!

I think that if a person has SSA, they should discuss this with the person they want to marry and not hide it form them. I don’t think there is any reason they couldn’t get married as long as they intended to fullfill their obligations to their spouse and they loved them and weren’t just using them to “fit in”. I’ve heard of people doing this and being happy.

I think it is more common for gay women than men. I actually have a friend of the family who was happily married for six years until her husband died. After that she sought out female companions. Apparantly, she claims that she always prefered females sexually, but she was in love with her husband and if he hadn’t died she would have stayed with him forever. They had a son together so apparently they had relations.

I think there is a little bit of a danger in promoting this too much because I suspect that the majority of gay people are more likely called to celibacy and it would be terrible for them to hurt themselves and someone else.

I don’t think percieved feminimity and masculinity play into it so much. Those ideas are so subjective and everyone has a different preference.

Since love is a verb, not a physical attraction, I don’t see why they couldn’t get married. Physical attraction fades eventually anyway. What matters is that you love the person that you marry.

Just out of curiosity, what made you think up these scenarios? I’d venture to say that we each have our own trials to concern ourselves with, without indulging in the exercise of debating about trials that affect no one whom we know or have been called upon to help or advise? 🤷

Now, now. Just because the OP doesn’t have as many trials as you do doesn’t mean he is self-indulgent. After all, we’ve all managed to find multiple hours to click through hundreds of little CA threads. Certainly some of that time could be redirected to ponder the various possibilities for chaste homosexuals.

If a person has SSA exclusively, then I do not think marriage is a suitable vocation. If they happen to be attracted to both sexes, then marriage is perfectly acceptable. When we marry, we promise to be faithful to that one person at the exclusion of all others - it doesn’t really matter who those others are.

I didn’t say he didn’t have any trials. I’m wondering why he was pondering theoretical trials that by all appearances have nothing to do with him. Even if we ever came up with a great answer, who would profit from it or care about it? If we were out in left field, what person with first-hand experience would be here to correct us? Maybe he has a reason, but I don’t immediately see what it would be, that’s all. 🤷

Well, for me if a child (or anyone else who was wondering when they ask questions in regard to what Catholics think) ever asked this kind of question, I’d know how to answer now! 👍

Can you imagine forcing yourself to have sex with another man? Now imagine doing that 3-4 times a week for the rest of your life. I would rather jump under a bus. It wouldn’t be that much different of a feeling for a gay man marrying a woman.

I agree that love is more than romance, but at the same time you don’t want to under emphasize how important the emotional connection between a man and a woman in a marriage is. I can’t imagine entering a marriage with it missing.
