Is it okay for a priest omit the homily on weekday Masses?

My priest only says homilies on Sundays and holy days of obligation.
 
As far as I know, it is permissible for a priest to omit a homily on weekdays. While it is probably not the best thing to do, especially on a regular basis as mentioned above, it is permissible.
