Hello,
To start, I am Catholic, and the lady I am seeing is agnostic. In talking about the future with this lady I have serious concerns about the type and quality of family life. I want to raise my children in the church, etc.
She said she has no problem raising the kids in the church, ok good.
Then she tells me she has never been baptized. She said she will get baptized to make me happy and “for the family.”
She does not believe in the Catholic faith. She only believes in God, and kind of believes in Jesus, but is not sure about everything said in the new testament.
The question: Is it ok, or even permissible, for her to become baptized for me? Doesn’t the choice to become baptized have to come from within? Can you direct me to the appropriate biblical, ecumenical, canonical, etc sources to help me figure out what problems this would raise.
Thank you.
