I’ve been to daily Mass at different Church’s all over America, and I don’t remember one of them ever taking up a collection at the daily Mass, however, when I go to Mass at another Parish on Sunday’s I always contribute. Like an earlier poster said, sometimes, they only have a “poor box” or something similar, and that is a good place to help out too. (anyway, yes, you can go to any Mass anywhere, anytime you want.)
My parish here in Michigan does that at the Noon Mass on Tuesdays. There is a devotion after the Mass (I believe to St. Anthony) and the Mass is usually packed that day.

St. Ann’s in Scranton does the same thing on Monday’s, but they do it during the Novenas to St. Ann during the day. Also the Cathedral in Scranton has collections.

I can imagine nothing wrong with it… Unless its protestant…
