Just curious if I wanted to have a few beers is it okay or is this something we’re supposed to abstain from as well?

Alcohol doesn’t fall under fasting and abstinence (probably a hangover, excuse the pun, from the days when beer was consumed more than water as it was safer to drink). My own opinion though is that it doesn’t really keep with the spirit of fasting and abstinence as water is clean and safe to drink in developed countries.

You’re talking about with a meal, and not between meals, right?

The latter would definitely seem out of character for a day of fast…

But what if you are sneaking into the garage so your wife and kids don’t see you crack a cold one; then return to finish the meal?

I just had a couple of glasses of wine. Then I had my breakfast
Well… the priest who celebrated your Ash Wednesday Mass could say much the same thing, so maybe you’re safe on that one… 😉

Yeah… then I’d say it’s time to talk to your priest about finding a good AWAA1 group.
