Is it okay to give awards during Mass?

My daughter “graduated” at a 6th grade graduation Mass. Directly after Communion, there was a graduation ceremony consisting of the presentation of graduates, diplomas, Presidential academic awards, 6th grade speech, and a 6th grade pledge. Only after that was the Final Blessing given. Should they have waited with the presentations until after the final blessing?
